Just a day before Russian President Vladimir Putin and Nicolás Maduro Moros inked a deal in Moscow, Russia during Russia’s 80th Victory Day military parade, India and the United Kingdom have been working behind closed doors to circumvent President Trump's Reciprocal Tariffs. Earlier this Tuesday, India and the United Kingdom seemed to have secured a bilateral trade deal that is estimated to be worth roughly $434.1 billion. This is a 60% increase in the level of trade between the two nations from the previous year (2024). Within the India-U.K. deal, both countries have agreed to lower the number of tariffs they have placed on each other to facilitate a healthy trade relationship between the two countries for the next 10 years.

On India’s end, India has agreed to significantly reduce tariffs on imported items from the United Kingdom such as medical devices, lamb, whiskey, and certain advanced types of machinery. Honoring the agreement , the United Kingdom has agreed to lower tariffs on Indian based business and other Indian based exported products as well. Like other nations, India and the United Kingdom are seeking to strengthen both geopolitical, trade, and economic ties ahead of what's known as “Trumps Reciprocal Tariffs” which are stated to go into effect July 8, of this year.

While the United States were hoping for India to pick up the phone and call them to establish a deal, it seemed the opposite has happened; countries around the world are picking up the phone and calling each other and cutting deals to circumvent the on-coming Trump Tariffs. Is this a strategic move by American President Donald Trump or is this unanticipated trade and economic blow back of the highest kind, which seems to isolate America from the rest of the world in terms of trade, commerce, and investments? The world is watching.
