[America Iran bombing] With the Americans launching a barrage of missile strikes on an estimated 90 targets in southern Iran including the cities of Chabahar, Bushehr, Abbas, Sirik, and Bandar yesterday wounding 78 people and killing 14. The American bombings prompted Iran to execute its counter-offensives against precision strikes on American military sites in the countries of Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain. The total number of people killed or injured if any has not been released to the public.
With President Trump stating to Press that any form of ceasefire or peace talks “are over”, many Iranians are pushing for the Iranian government to continue retaliating and escalating it’s military actions against America. Despite President Trump's rhetoric that America will ensure commercial oil and gas shipping will flow out of the strait of Hormuz, the Iranian government not only seeks to control but is currently in control of all shipping lanes within the strait of Hormuz. President Trump was quoted on his social media platform Truth Social saying:
“This is in retribution for yesterday’s bombing of ships by Iran. If it happens again, it will get much worse!”
CENTCOM (US Central Command) backed President Trump by also releasing a statement justifying military action towards Iran by stating “conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway”. With the military actions of both countries escalating in the region, oil and gas prices have increased and are expected to continue to increase in the coming weeks and months if this trending trajectory continues.
All of America's bombings are happening while the funeral procession of Iran’s previously Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who was assassinated by both the Americans and Israeli’s is taking place. It should be noted that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be buried in his hometown of Mashhad today. His son and new Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen at his father’s funeral procession. Looking back at the strait of Hormuz, it was reported by the international maritime organization (IMO) that roughly 6,000 sailors remained trapped in the strait of Hormuz. The released the following statement to the Press:
“These reckless attacks have again placed innocent seafarers in grave danger. No seafarer should risk their life simply for doing their job. Behind the figures are seafarers, and in some cases their families, who continue to bear the human cost of this conflict.”
While this may be the case, it appears that there are no innocent people when it comes to the trilateral war between the Americans, Israelis, and the Iranians as all parties involved play a strategic role knowingly or out of ignorance to the current situation in the region. The fate of the current memorandum of understanding between Iran and the Americans may be over for now, but many geopolitical analysts appear to be more concerned with how long the war will continue and what the hidden cost of the war will yield and the world has not been declared to be a multi-polar one.
