EGYPT TO BACK SAUDI ARABIA IN LOSING FIGHT AS SAUDI BACKED FIGHTERS SURRENDER TO HOUTHIS

Written by Michael Thervil

[EGYPT SAUDI ARABIA HOUTHIS] With Ansarullah (Houthis) making significant gains on the battlefield, Saudi back fighters in Taiz, which is located in the southwestern highlands and coastal plains near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait have now surrendered unconditionally to the warfighting dominance of the Houthis. Houthis appointed acting governor of Taiz in an address to the surrendered Saudi back fighters he stated “your blood is protected, your honor is preserved, and your property is respected. Return to your families, villages, and cities.” Many Saudi backed fighters gave signals of relief from almost certain death in the face of the Houthis as they abandoned all efforts to continue fighting.
Meanwhile in Egypt as the House of Saud appears to be falling, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has pledged his support to Saudi Arabia in its war against the Houthis after requesting an emergency session with the Egyptian Parliament yesterday. President Sisi stated to the Press that Egypt would “carry out any measure to protect Saudi Arabia". The question that many Geopolitical and War Analysts are asking is “What does Egypt get from Saudi Arabia in return?”. While it is well known that Saudi Arabia and Egypt has been economic partners, it still appears to be the driving motivation for President Sisi to come militarily come to the aid of Saudi Arabia as Egypt has reported loss of $11 billion since the Houthis have been engaged in warfighting in the region since 2023 in the Suez Canal against western backed ships in protest of Israel’s genocidal war against the people of Palestine.
While other Arab nations such as Pakistan and Türkiye have formed a trilateral joint operational military agreement under what is known as the “Mecca Pact” back in August of this year, it appears that Egypt doesn’t want to be left out due to their strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia even though they never signed into the Mecca Pact. With this, again the question being ask by speculators outside of west Asia is “Why wasn’t President Sisi not as adamant about volunteering military assistance to the people of Gaza as Israel committed act of genocide against them?” if economics is the driving force for President Sisi to act, then is can be possibly be induced that the people of Palestine are too poor to garner the attention of President Sisi to come to their aid.
OUR POSITION AT VEDA WORLD NEWS
The military actions by Egyptian President Sisi will most likely be the same as Pakistan and Türkiye. What we mean by this is that they will not engage in any ground fighting but will militarily assist in terms of intelligence, logistics, air strikes here and there, and possibly through the use of proxy-based fighters. The reason for this is because the last time Egypt fought a war was back in 1973. With just over 40 years of being absent on any war front, the likelihood of Egypt being able to fight and sustain its military with its current budget of $2.5 billion which is on the low end when compared to what other nations spend on their militaries despite them having one of the largest militaries in west Asia doesn’t appear to be a recipe for success.
It is our position that Egypt should step aside and allow the cards to play out to make the best move for its country after the fact. The Houthis remain undefeated and it looks like it will continue to be that way for the foreseeable future. The widening of the war in West Asia will do nothing but involve other nations and warring factions that will garner support for Ansarullah.
